Our Collaboration With Back to the Roots

Chanelle de Lau Foundation in collaboration with Back to The Roots hosted its very first Farm-to-Table experience for kids to educate themselves on all the benefits of planting their own foods.

What better way to start the New Year's than to motivate our younger generation to live healthier lifestyles! The purpose of this Farm to Table experience is to give our children the opportunity to acquire new skills, have fun, play and develop self-confidence by spending time in the garden tending plants and learning where fresh foods come from. Back to The Roots is an American based company that sells indoor gardening kits and organic cereals. Their curiosity for urban farming has turned into a passion to reconnect families back to food through indoor gardening kits & simple ingredient organic cereals. Their mission is to inspire a new generation to ask where their food comes from & that food should come from the kitchen, not a lab. Co-founder Alejandro Velez is our special guest for this wonderful event who kindly donated gardening kits to all the children present at our farm-to-table gathering!

OUR COLLABORATION

WITH KAREL'S BAKERY

Karel's Bakery will introduce a new bread type to their bakery in 2019! We are very excited for this collaboration because this means Karel's Bakery will be the primary source for whole-grain, dairy-less, sugar-free and vegan bread types on Curacao! It is of utmost importance to provide the people of Curacao healthier bread options. Especially for those struggling with diseases where sugar and dairy must be avoided at all costs. Not only will your choice of bread be healthier, but by buying these vegan bread options you will also be automatically donating to the Chanelle de Lau Foundation!

So look out for the vegan logo on your next trip to Karel's Bakery in Vreugdenhil Supermarket!

Why vegan bread?

A diet that’s rich in plant-based foods has all kinds of healthy benefits. In fact, many studies show it can help prevent diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and certain cancers. This is why we found it important to incorporate this principle in a food that by many is consumed daily : bread.
